FAQ
Choosing a body sculpting treatment can raise many questions about results, safety, muscle building, fat reduction, and candidacy. Below are answers to some of the most common questions we receive at B-Sculpt in Montreal about non-invasive body sculpting and HIFEM technology.
Frequently asked questions
What results can I expect from your body sculpting treatment?
Patients experienced an 18% increase in muscle mass, 20% reduction of fat, 11% increase in muscle firmness, mild skin tightening and 5 fold increase in metabolism after 5 body sculpting sessions and a full 8 weeks after treatments. By combining with our body contouring device, the fat loss percentage can double (40%), and the skin in the area treated will become visibly firmer, more elastic and rejuvenated, especially after 8-12 weeks.
Is B-Shape TMC Health Canada approved?
Yes, all of our devices are Health Canada approved. The B-Shape TMC has license number 107569.
What will I feel during the body sculpting treatment?
Our body sculpting treatment uses HIFEM technology, and is the newest device in this category in Canada. It induces automatic magnetically-generated muscle contractions that cycle on and off 7-40 times per second during the treatment session. Each session has two 30-minute treatment segments with a rotation or movement of the applicators to optimally treat the concerns of each of our individual clients. The feeling can be intense muscle contractions, but it is not painful at all. See a video of how it looks on our body sculpting page.
Will I experience pain or need downtime after the treatment?
The treatment is not painful, though the contractions may feel intense initially. We gradually increase intensity to ensure your comfort. You can return to your daily activities immediately, as there is no downtime required.
How often can I do the body sculpting treatments?
Treatments are ideally done once a week or once every two weeks. For those with demanding schedules, it is no problem to space them apart by two weeks or even more. By spacing out the sessions by two weeks (or even more) the fat loss component will be accentuated by extending the period of time that the body will be in an increased metabolic state.
How much does your body sculpting cost?
Our treatments range from $243+ per standard session (1-2 applicators, 1-2 zones, 60 min) to $299+ per enhanced session (3-4 applicators, 3-4 zones 60 minutes). There are two ways to take advantage of our body sculpting services:
1) a B-SCULPT membership whereby you pay as you go either monthly or weekly
2) by purchasing a package of body sculpting treatments that you can use anytime since they never expire.
Will I be sore after the treatment?
Immediately following treatment there can be a feeling of fatigued muscles in the treatment area. This subsides gradually. In the following days the muscles can feel stiff and/or a little sore similar to the feeling after an intense workout.
If it is like I did 40,000 sit-ups, will I have the soreness associated with that amount of exercise?
The body sculpting device has a program (pattern) of contractions that is designed to allow the lactic acid building up in the muscle to spread to the fat layer in order to act on this layer.
How does the HIFEM body sculpting technology work?
HIFEM refers to High Frequency Electro Magnetic. The Magnetic Resonance technology induces “supra-maximal” muscle contractions that contract 100% of the muscle fibres in the treated muscle. These contractions bypass the brain and are much more intense than what can be achieved by voluntarily contacting the muscle with exercise.
What areas can be treated?
Abdomen, obliques, buttocks, arms, calves, thighs, latissimus dorsi (lats), deltoid (shoulder) and pectoral (chest). Smaller muscles can be treated via our therapeutic protocol for rehabilitation - coming soon!
How long is a treatment?
60 minutes
Who should avoid this treatment?
This treatment is not suitable for individuals with electronic implants like pacemakers. Contraindications include cancer, pregnancy, breastfeeding, fever, and pulmonary embolism. Those with conditions such as pulmonary insufficiency, heart issues, recent strokes, or cancer remission within five years should consult their doctor. Areas with metal implants, copper IUDs, recent surgeries, or injuries should also be avoided.
Can I treat multiple areas at once?
Yes! The B-Shape T.M.C machine has 4 applicators, therefore it is possible to treat the stomach and arms or calves simultaneously as an example.
How can I maximize my results after the treatment?
To maximize your results, drink at least 2 liters of water daily and consume clean protein (0.8-1g per pound of body weight). Incorporate detox teas or supplements like milk thistle to support your lymphatic system in clearing fat. This also aids muscle recovery, similar to post-workout healing. If you're a bodybuilder, stick to your usual pre- and post-workout regimen.
What is the effect on the buttocks area specifically?
The gluteus maximus muscle reacts by gaining volume and becoming firmer. It will have the appearance of looking lifted.
What is the effect on the stomach area specifically?
The abdominal muscles react by becoming firmer, closer together if separated, and increasing slightly in thickness. These muscles are not “designed” to gain bulk. The end affect is a flatter and firmer stomach.
Are your technicians certified?
Yes. Our technicians have passed a two-part course specific to the B-Shape T.M.C. device certified by Health Canada.
How do I maintain the results?
There are two ways to maintain the results: either by physical exercise, or by one maintenance treatment every 2-3 months.
